So Sky Broadband are morons, no 2 opinios here. After waiting 25 days for a very simple installation, the engineer finally showed up as per the appointment just to discover a problem with the line outside of the property. He said that the problem would be fixed on the next day and there's no need for another visit from an engineer at the property.
Sky however do not agree. Today I received an email saying that I did not provide access to the property so I should call them and arrange another appointment. Yes, you got that correct.
Sky is fucking moronic, so I need to call them at my own expenses and pay for their idiotic practices. Ok, I called. And I got through to the person with the most terrible accent I've ever encountered, I bet he's not using Siri. So this person that I could barely understand tells me that the earliest date for installation is now 7 Nov, yeah got that right. After waiting for 25 days for the appointment, Sky fucked up everything but I have to wait for another 20 days, how convenient.
Then the accent guy tells me a lot of garbage that I'm not able to pick up and says he'll call me again. Later I received an email from Sky Broadband that says my set-up is rescheduled for 7 Nov. Joking. Morons.
I contacted them already via their so called support center which is also a joke by the way, claiming free internet bundle untill they sort their shit or money to cover for my alternative internet untill they get their shit fixed.
I also requested all information Sky have on file for me according to the European Data Protection Law as I'm planning to use this in a claim with the UK Ombudsman.
I'll update the story accordingly. Meanwhile I'll check other providers that offer 12 month contract but won't cancel with Sky yet. I want them to actually bother and finish the installation. Only then I'll cancel immediately.

Demand more from your broadband, not from Sky though
This slogan is part of Sky Broadband's ads in the tube that I see every day. Actually it sounds so confident that I was happy to research them and decided to give Sky a try.
Big mistake!
As a marketing professional I should have guessed this is just a hollow marketing sales message without any real meaning behind it. And i'll explain why.
Monday early morning I wrote to Sky Broadband support saying that 25 days waiting time for a router to be sent to me and a button to be pressed in their backend system is ridiculous. I also told them that Be There promised installation within 1 week and I want to know if Sky can match this or I should cancel my order. Received immediate confirmation that my inquiry is received and they aim to provide answer within 24 hours.
In 24 hours nothing. So I go and write another email to their support saying that I actually took the effort to read their ad and I'm demanding more from them, challenged Sky Broadband to stand up to their ad. That was Tuesday early morning.
Then later during the day I tweeted 3 times to the Sky's Twitter help account @SkyHelpTeam. Gregor from their team was online in twitter as he actually tweeted saying this. You can guess it - absolutely no reply whatsoever till this moment.
Even later that day I actually created this blog with the idea to make them sorry for not paying attention and outsorcing their help center in the wrong country.
Today is Thursday and I finally received a reply to my first email from Monday, 3 days later! The email of course confirms the installation date in the not-so-near-future because as they put it "The Openreach team book the earliest engineer appointment". As if in my email I didn't write that I do not need an engineer, I only need the router which I can power and plugin to the phone cable myself, I'm not a moron, Sky.
Still waiting for a reply to my second email that challanged Sky to stand up to their ad as I'm a demanding broadband customer. Will see what they will eventually reply but I suspect another auto moronic reply.
Nest post would be about Sky Broadband speed compared to the broadband speed in the UK in general. The real thing, not the sugar coated version on comparison websites.

Sky Broadband installation waiting times
OK, so you want sky broadband internet in your new home, no worries. Sign up for the service through the Sky website and they will schedule your installation 25 days in future.
I was thinking, well maybe the installation takes time, requires complicated works to be done. Well not really. (unless you do not even have the wire reaching your home which is very rare)
So Sky ships the broadband router with instructions on how to set it up yourself. You do set it up yourself. Then on the day of installation an engineer comes over, does nothing, calls the central and they activate your sky broadband account. Wooow. I'm amazed. And for this you need to wait 25 days.
They can as well send me the rooter the next day, I install it and call them to activate. Total time required - max 3 days.
Try and demand more from your broadband. This is part of their ad that I see in the tube every day - "Demand more from your broadband".
Demanding more... this would be the topic of my next post.

Sky Broadband initial thoughts
In this blog I'll try and describe my experience with Sky and my attempts to get Sky Broadband Unlimited from them. I really hope they read what I have to say as well.
